Stations of the Cross – Third Station

Jesus falls for the first time.

We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you
Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.

Scripture

“It was our infirmities that he bore; our sufferings that he endured. While we thought of him as stricken, as one smitten by God and afflicted. But he was pierced for our offenses, crushed for our sins, upon him was the chastisement that makes us whole, by his stripes we were healed.”

A Prayer

Lord Jesus, how can I refuse?
I willingly accept my weaknesses,
my irritations and moods,
my headaches and fatigue,
all my defects of body, mind and soul.

Because they are your will for me,
these “handicaps” of my humanity.
I gladly suffer them.

Make me content with all my discontents,
but give me strength to struggle after you.
