Highlight on Home Care and Hospice and Extend-A-Care

Home Care delivers nursing, rehabilitative, psycho-social, and personal care to patients in their own environments. The Home Care Agency is Medicare certified, accredited by the Joint Commission, and licensed in 25 counties in western and central North Dakota.

Hospice delivers multi-disciplinary care to patients with a terminal illness, providing comfort, not curative care to their patients while promoting quality of life and dying with dignity in an environment of their choice. Hospice is Medicare certified, JCAHO accredited, and licensed in 26 counties of North Dakota.

Extend-A-Care goes beyond Medicare/insurance-covered services and is paid privately. Services include: maintenance nursing (medication monitoring); personal care (bathing, exercise) and homemaker services (meal preparation, housekeeping, shopping). Through the support of this program, individuals select care appropriate for themselves in order to remain in their own homes.

The predominate patient populations served are adult and geriatric patients. Infrequently, infants, children or adolescents may be served. The predominate diagnostic groups served include those with heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, orthopaedic problems, neurologic problems, musculoskeletal problems, skin integrity problems, cancer, dementia and functional disabilities due to general medical conditions.
