Why does Jesuit Retreat House need to have an endowment fund?
The ministry of Jesuit Retreat House has gone through only two major periods of change in the last 110 years. Consider the tremendous social and economic changes that have taken place in the United States in that century. The JRH Endowment Fund will ensure that this atmosphere of stability continues to surround the timeless ministry of JRH. By conservatively investing and managing the endowment funds, JRH can rely on a steady source of income.
How is the JRH Endowment Used?
With an eye on the ministry’s long-term needs, the JRH Board of Trustees worked with the Detroit Province of the Society of Jesus to establish policies that guide the management and distribution of JRH Endowment assets. Funds are used only after a careful and prayerful application of these policies and only cover costs of operating the retreat house and its programs.
How is the JRH Endowment Managed?
Very carefully! Gifts to the endowment are conservatively invested, closely monitored, and only the interest or a specific percentage of the fund are used to supplement the operating budget of JRH. The goal is to maximize long-term return on the investments. The JRH Board of Trustees has selected Lakepoint Investment Partners, LLC to manage the endowment fund.
