Media Statement – Too Much Too Young
Speaking on the publication of the report into young Londoner?s drinking by the GLA?s Health and Public Services Committee, Eric Carlin, Chair of the Drug Education Forum, said:
We welcome the committee?s recommendation that alcohol play a more prominent role in drug education.ÿExcellent drug education starts from understanding the needs of the young people we are teaching, and in our view this means keeping a focus on alcohol.
Young Londoners drink less than the national averages, but as the committee rightly point out this is no reason for complacency.ÿYoung people, schools, youth services, parents and others need understand the damage that alcohol can do and how we can reduce those harms.ÿ
