| Term : Polyglandular Autoimmune Syndrome type 4 |
| Definition : A rare genetic disorder characterized by the malfunction of more than one endocrine gland resulting in impaired hormone production. The gland malfunction results from autoimmune damage to the tissue. Type 4 tends to have a different pattern to the other types with adrenal and thyroid problems often not occurring whereas other autoimmune conditions such as diabetes tend to predominate the initial stages of the condition. |
