Lenten Luncheon: Lenten Renewal: Being Catholic in a Season of Change
Description:
Presented by Paul V. Murphy
Each year at Lent, the Church calls Catholics to renew their commitment to companionship with Christ. This year of a new pope brings new opportunities to imagine what that might mean for Christians throughout the world. At this luncheon we will approach Lenten issues in light of the ministry of Pope Francis. Dr. Murphy holds an M.Div. from Weston Jesuit School of Theology and a Ph.D. in Renaissance History from the University of Toronto. His teaching and research focuses on the history of Christianity, the Jesuits, and efforts at reform in the Roman Catholic tradition. He currently serves as the Vice president for University Mission and Identity and the Director of the Institute of Catholic Studies at John Carroll University.
Lenten Luncheons at Jesuit Retreat House provide sacred space to gather for a home-cooked meal, and prayer. Spiritual and intellectual nourishment are fostered by presenters who inspire, challenge, and delight. Luncheons begin with prayer at 11:30 a.m. and conclude by 1:30 p.m. Cost is $25.
