Stations of the Cross – First Station
Pilate condemns Jesus to death.
We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you;
Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.
Reflection
Scripture: “Then the whole assembly of them arose and brought Jesus before Pilate. They brought charges against him, saying, ‘We found this man misleading our people; he opposes the payment of taxes to Caesar and maintains that he is the Messiah, a king.” With loud shouts, however, they persisted in calling for his crucifixion and their voices prevailed. The verdict of Pilate was that their demand should be granted.’ |
A Prayer
“My Jesus, Lord, obedience cost you your life. For me it costs an act of will – no more – and yet how hard it is for me to bend.
Remove the blinders from my eyes that I may see that it is you whom I obey in all who govern me. Lord, it is you.”
