: My son has just turned 6. He was on Adderal for a very very short time. I took him off of it after he wasn’t able to sleep, had nightmares, and worst of all was hallucinating. His appetite also decreased. I started him on regular ritilin 2.5 mg twice a day while at school and teachers reported that while he had a bit of trouble in between the two doses (as one would wear off before the next was administered), he did very well. Now I am trying Strattera for the first time. In fact I just gave him his first dose tonight. Time will tell. If it doesn’t go well, I have already decided to take him off of it and go back to the plain ritilin. Im always looking for feedback on Strattera currently though.

:
: : OUR 8 YR. OLD SON TOOK 10MG ADDERALL LAST YR. IT HELPED ACCIDEMICALLY, BUT MADE HIM ZOMBIE-LIKE DURING THE DAY AND HE HAD DECREASED APP. AND HEADACHES IN THE AFTERNOONS. WE’RE CONSIDERING STRATERA BECAUSE WE ARE MORE CONCERNED WITH HIS SELF ESTEEM AND SOCIAL INTERACTIONS THAN WITH HIS ABILITY TO CONCENTRATE DURING LENGTHY WRITTING ASSIGNMENTS.

: : ANY COMMENTS, SUGGESTIONS? My 9 yr old daughter started Strattera about 6 weeks ago and is doing great. She no longer has the highs & lows that is a common side affect of ritalin. I would recommend it to anyone who has notice this with their own children. When my daughter was diagnosed she was on a 4 week blind trial of 3 levels of ritalin and placebo. I can say from that 4 week trail any child that is zombie like, very moody or combative is on a dose that is much higher then is needed. If you see this in you child you should contact your physician and make sure to cut the dose back. We found our daughter on needed 5 mg of ritalin and currently takes the 40 mg of Stattera with no side affects. Hope this helps some other parents out there.
