Robyn, Thanks for your response. While our charter school is very good in many ways, and my daughter loves her class, I guess I’m concerned about a public school telling me that they may not be able to meet my NLD child’s needs. Granted, a charter school is different from a mainstream public school, and ours has some financial limitations, but even so, aren’t they “required” to meet her needs? I’ve only begun to read about others’ experiences here, Wrights Law, etc. and I’m realistic enough not to expect a completely ideal situation. Still, I do expect our school to provide more of what my daughter needs. I haven’t heard that she’s not entitled to the right kind of help, just that she probably can’t get it where she is. Is that legal? Or is that just the reality? Does anyone have any experience with IEP’s and charter schools? Thanks, too, for mentioning the Standards, which I’ll look into. I’m in California, too, btw.
